time ago I had the opportunity to meet an organization and people argued that changes in SAP, in favor of making improvements to BPM.
I say no. Many have to agree with me or not.
My foundation:
First we have to agree on a definition of what is BPM, which corresponds to a discipline that seeks to understand, study, improve and facilitate the processes performed in organizations with changes in the mentality and ways of doing things by the people and the various existing computer systems.
BPM is a discipline comprising di stintan methodologies, applications and different ways of seeing things, but primarily for the purpose of giving an evolutionary cycle making processes are made increasingly better way in order to become more competitive in the market where the company operates or organization.
SAP is a software, a tremendously powerful and strong that it is ca peace cover different aspects that require the sales organization from planning, estimating costs, maintenance, human resource management, resources such as fixed assets , bookkeeping, invoicing, billing, customer management, etc. Is transverse with regard to the ability to cover issues within the organization.
However, the changes made to this system does not cover and not cover ll t improvements. And still does not measure the impact of improvements that may make this system SAP or one of its modules.
BPM and s for the entire organization for all processes and for all activities that people do. From a problem in printing a document, the phone has no network to large issues such as implementation of actual reporting tools or Business warehouse or other system. BPM is global and make changes or improvements in processes related to SAP does not say that the process end to end or transverse process from end to end is covered and improved.
is a double-edged sword, one must be able to have the macro view, precisely as improvements to SAP but do not forget the other systems and activities that are supported by IT support.
